Kristoffer Almdal is 50 years old, Professor in polymers in nanotechnology and Head of Section at DTU Nanotech. Kristoffer holds a PhD in Polymer Chemistry for the University of Copenhagen. After a 1 year post doc at the University of Minnesota he has been at Risø DTU from 1990 to 2007 as Scientist, Senior Scientist, Head of Programme and Head of Department. Present research activities are in composite materials, particle based nanosensors for the study of metabolism in living cells, new materials for micro- and nanotechnology, polymer degradation, and elongational rheology.
Research interest further include model polymer and block copolymer melts including studies of mesophase structure, critical phenomena, order-to-order, order-to-disorder transitions, polymer dynamics, and polymer synthesis.
Expertise in anionic polymerisation, self-organization phenomena, small angle scattering, rheology, and size exclusion chromatography.
Søren Linderoth is Head of the Department of Fuel Cells and Solid State Chemistry at Risø National Laboratory and Adj. Professor at the University of Aalborg

He holds a Ph.D. from the Technical University of Denmark in the area of materials science. Employed as Ph.D., post doc and scientist at the Technical University of Denmark, University of Copenhagen, and many stays at universities and research facilities around the world.
He holds a number of patents, and is the co-author of more than 150 scientic papers.
Søren Linderoth has led several research projects. From 2001 he became the Head of Programme for “Fuels Cells and Materials Chemistry” at Risø National Laboratory, now constituting 65 man-year, incl. Ph.D.’s, postdocs, technicians and scientists. The programme deals with solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), high temperature electrolysis (SOEC), flue gas purification, magnetic refrigeration and oxygen membranes – involving synthesis, modelling, theory, manufacturing techniques, a large number of advanced evaluation and characterisation tools.
Søren Linderoth is the Chairman of the Management Board of the Risø-Haldor Topsøe A/S consortium on SOFC – a collaboration which in December 2004 resulted in the spin-out company: Topsoe Fuel Cell A/S.
Bent F. Sørensen, Senior Scientist at the Materials Research Department at Risø National Laboratory.

He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Solid Mechanics at the Technical University of Denmark in 1992. He has been Senior Scientist at the Materials Research Department since 1995.
His research field covers both experimental investigations and modelling with the focus on interface mechanics. Examples of problems dealt with are damage evolution and fracture of fibre composites (ceramic matrix composites and polymer matrix composites), cracking of ceramics, delamination of layered structures e.g. solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), cohesive law and strength of adhesive joints, effect of fibre bridging on delamination resistance of composites and cracking of ceramic filaments in superconducting tapes.
He is the author of more than 70 scientific papers since 1991, over 30 of these in international journals. He has received grants for five research projects involving collaboration with other research organisations and participation of industries.
